It was supposed to be a victory day
It was a closed courtroom that had the final hearing on the Stilinski-Grayson divorce. The evidence against the Grayson family as a whole was damning from the photographs of the attempted kidnapping, the assault charges, the history of abuse... it wasn't hard for the judge to grant the divorce.
It was the terms that shocked Stiles the most: Permanent No Contact order of Protection for him and Dina against the Graysons and any family member or agent on their behalf. Any contact moving forward for Stiles or Dina would be done through the Law Office of Samuel Winchester. Suzanna's parental rights over Claudia Marie were terminated, no visitation by anyone in the family or agents acting on their behalf, and Stiles was given sole custody of his daughter with an order to change her birth certificate to remove the Grayson part of her name and Suzanna from her records.
And then the big one: in order to protect the Stilinski family, alimony and child support would be established as a single lump-sum payment based on the financials of the Grayson family and taking into consideration the medical needs Stiles would continue to face both physical and emotionally at present and in the future, and to support Dina for all her present and future medical and educational needs.
Two Million Dollars. Half kept in trust for Dina until her 18th birthday or graduation from high school, whichever came first. The other half in account for Stiles to use as he deemed necessary to provide for his family. Plus all of Sam's legal fees were paid by the Grayson's.
And that was that. Stiles stood, partially in shock as the team of lawyers left with Suzanna and her father, and then he just turned and hugged Sam tightly. The taller man smiled at Malia, nodding at a job well done, and hugged his client back. "You did it, Stiles. You got your daughter the safety you wanted for her. Now it's time for you both to build a better life."
A plumbing issue had kept Stiles from moving into Allison's father's place right away, so he was still at the Hale house. Things had gotten a bit easier with the anger finally out in the air. But after a long day at court, Stiles was ready to join his daughter for naptime before dinner.
John hadn't wanted to worry Stiles, but the Grayson brothers had made bail and weren't in custody any longer. He warned Talia, but with the protective orders in place, putting a detail on the house wasn't possible without a real threat in the air.
No one realized that out in the desert, deals had been made between the family patriarch and another patriarch - Gerard Argent. Knowing that the Hales were protecting the granddaughter of his good friend, it was easy to help equip the two sons with a chip on their shoulder with the right weapons, and a team of hand picked hunters, to help them give one last message that no one could walk away from the Grayson family and expect to win.

"Um, sleeping? I was keeping watch to make sure she was okay and we just... fell back asleep."
no subject
She doesn't, for a second, think that they were doing more than sleeping but that's not going to stop her from ribbing Stiles about it, because that's what friends do and it's normal. She thinks he could use a bit of normalcy, but if it starts to really bother him, she'll back off.
"You know, I could make sure Dina gets breakfast and stuff, if you want to go 'sleep' some more."
no subject
He gets the teasing, but he just wants to make it clear. Nothing more. Not yet. Probably not for awhile, and that was the best way to handle it.
no subject
"I know, Stiles." She manages to drop some of her tone for that before, but there's just enough teasing still in there. "Cora got shot with a wolfsbane bullet I'd be surprised if it was anything more than that." And that's putting aside the whole issue of him.
no subject
"Daddy!" Dina's voice came from the room.
"I'm right here, baby." He opened the door, and almost instantly, Dina was running into his arms and he picked her up, hitching her onto his hip and she hugged his neck and kissed his cheek. "You want breakfast?"
"Can I have fruit loops?"
"We can see if Ms. Talia has some." He looked at Malia, smiling. "You say good morning to auntie Malia?"
"Good morning auntie Malia." She leaned her head against her father's, smiling a matching smile to her father's.
no subject
"Hi, Dina. Fruit Loops are in the top left cabinet." She's still smiling, even as she points to the door behind them. "I'm gonna go check on Cora, but I'll see you guys downstairs."
no subject
"She's still sleeping, but we'll see you downstairs." He went to move past her and headed downstairs to go and make his daughter breakfast.
no subject
Guess what I saw at my aunt's house?
no subject
Downstairs, Stiles put Dina on the counter and then reached up above her to get a bowl and handed it to her, and then the Fruit Loops. "Looks like you're in luck, kiddo."
no subject
Try Cora and Stiles actually getting along well enough to sleep in the same bed. From what I could tell things were very snuggly.
Nadia rouses at the sound of voices from the chair she's curled up in - Peter's chair, unofficially speaking, but he's in it enough that his scent is all over it. She blinks at the two people in the kitchen, then gives a small smile.
"Morning."
no subject
How did you find this out?
Stiles looked over, giving Nadia a sheepish look. "Morning. Sorry, didn't mean to wake you up."
Dina looked over. "Do you want some Fruit Loops? I can share."
no subject
He came out of her room covered in her scent. He admits that they were sleeping together though he's adorably adamant that it was just sleeping.
Nadia shakes her head as she gets to her feet, giving Dina a small smile. "No, but thank you, Dina. I think I'll be good with just some coffee."
She does stop on the way over to check on Peter, not enough to wake him, but just to make sure he isn't in too much pain.
no subject
Peter shifted in his sleep, pushing into her hands as she checked him over, but curled back up as she moved away. The bullet had been in him longer, closer to his heart, and he was going to need a bit more time before he was back up to snuff. The pain was less though, his healing taking all his energy currently.
Stiles took the bowl, box and daughter and carried them to a chair. "I could use a cup too. Didn't get a lot of sleep last night." He went to make her a bowl, and then pulled out his cell phone to give her something to watch while the adults talked.
no subject
Nadia brushes her fingers through his hair as she goes but lets him sleep. She then makes her way over to the counter to fix the coffee as she talks.
"I think yesterday was rough on all of us, really. How's Cora?"
no subject
Stiles went into the fridge and poured milk into Dina's cereal, and then brought it over to Nadia. "She's sleeping, but doing good. She should be fine. Peter?"
no subject
She nods as she steps back to let the coffee brew. "Same. He was smaller than Cora was at the time, so the wolfsbane got a little closer to his heart, but Fiona says he should be fine, he just needs a few days."
no subject
"As long as he's fine in the end." Stiles nodded, his fingers drumming on the counter. "I... um... I didn't get a lot of details from my Dad about what you guys decided on doing."
no subject
"Animal attacks," Nadia says calmly, reaching for the pot to pour the coffee as it finishes. "Grizzly bears can be incredibly vicious. Did you know that a grizzly bear's jaw can deliver a bite of 1200 pounds per square inch? It literally popped your brother-in-law's head like a cherry tomato." She pauses for a moment to take a sip of hers. "Very tragic hunting accident. But this is really why Talia doesn't let hunters on the preserve."
no subject
Stiles winced a bit at the imagery, flashing back to the moment of watching Ray's head as the bullet entered his head. "Yeah, well, hopefully the bear doesn't get a bad case of indigestion from eating him."
